Water and electronics do not usually go together. But a growing number of video cameras now offer closed, so you can log into their experiences in the rain or during the dive. Panasonic has led the way with the SDR-SW20 and SW21, Sanyo and recently upped the ante by passing high-definition with the Xacti VPC-WH1.

Now we have another HD camcorder Sanyo waterproof form of the Xacti VPC-CA9. When the WH1 focused on its subtitle, the CA9 gives more than a nod to the style. Using the family business ‘weapon’ for Sanyo Xacti format is much less of a big monster. The main difference in the way characteristic of water resistance is that CA9 is valued at a depth of 1.5 m, where the WH1 up to 3m. Therefore, CA9 is tied with the original Panasonic SDR-SW20, but still qualify for accreditation IPX8. As in the WH1, there is no mention of the impact resistance.

Thus, although the body feels quite solid, not recommended to leave the CA9 and expected to seal its continued effectiveness. A single door covers the battery, memory card slot for SDHC and combined AV and USB port. However, on a positive note of the CA9 incorporates a much larger than 1/6in CMOS 1/2.5in unit WH1, and has a 9.02 megapixel instead of 2.0 megapixels. Thus, despite claiming to be “dual cameras,” due to its ability to take video and still images, the CA9 guarantees both, at least on paper.

In the same range of video options are available, under the guise of 1280 x 720 at 30 frames per second. There are two options of 640 x 480, with 60 or 30 frames per second, and recording a voice memo installation. The beginning of the video mode used 9Mbits/sec 8 GB will be sufficient for just under two hours of footage. [trustedreviews]
