Rockwell Collins MicroDAGR GPS Receiver Portable Navigation Device

Rockwell Collins has released its new handheld GPS receiver for soldiers called MicroDAGR. This portable navigation device is designed to work in extreme conditions and generally meets the standards of the military. It offers real-time positioning, navigation, moving maps and timing information through its full-color touch screen display and can easily be worn on the wrist.

Other interesting features are vibration alarm, an MP3 player and a digital camera. The Rockwell Collins MicroDAGR will be available for delivery in January 2010, with first deliveries to the U.S. Army Rapid Equipping Force (REF).

The MicroDAGR provides soldiers with increased real-time position, navigation, moving maps and information on timing of a full-color touch-screen display and is small enough to be worn on the wrist with a lanyard, or in a bag. The receiver has initially L1 frequency power, using only secure military GPS signals with anti-jamming and anti-spoofing capabilities. MicroDAGR is also equipped with the latest Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module (SAASM)-based anti-jamming software.

Designed in response to feedback from soldiers in the field, the MicroDAGR also includes several new features, including vibrating alarm, an MP3 player and a digital camera. These functions will record soldiers to geo-rectified images of the battlefield for after-action review and analysis, listening to foreign language translations of key phrases and commands and still get alerts from their MicroDAGR when preset waypoints and / or danger areas.

The new system will be available for delivery in January 2010. The first deliveries of the MicroDAGR goes to the U.S. Army Rapid Equipping Force (REF). The REF will ensure that the U.S. Army soldier this important new power of the warfighter as quickly as possible. Rockwell Collins continues to enhance its proven Dagre GPS system to the needs of a wide range of users to address. The company has delivered more than 300,000 Dagre more than 1.5 million units and accessories since it was selected by the Air Force for full-rate production in 2003. The Dagre is regarded as the standard military handheld GPS receiver for position, navigation and situational awareness.
